Winter quarters [large print] / Bennett Foster.

Foster, Bennett, (author.).

Summary:

"Ruffin's Wild West Show had its winter quarters near the New Mexico ranch of Dan Mar. When Dan, after quarreling with his father, left the ranch, he joined the show to do a roping act with Penny Thwaite. Before the show started, a bank robbery and the mysterious death of Penny's brother estranged Penny and Dan. Dan teamed up with Nevada Warren in a star act, and Penny fell under the influence of Smokey Darnell, a performer with a dangerous reputation and a grudge against Dan. The show started across the country, leaving a trail of robberies and shootings -- which caused Dan to re-investigate the death of Carl Thwaite and to discover a clue. When Dan returned to winter quarters, his enemies had covered their trail so well that Dan himself was suspected of robbery and murder. Now Dan must choose -- run before he is hanged for crimes he did not commit, or fight to clear his name."-- Provided by publisher.
